Masons Work to Save Aberdeen Lodge

Members of the Masonic Lodge in Cliffwood aim to raise building restoration funds through a fundraiser next weekend.

Members of the Butler Lodge No. 42 in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen will host a fundraiser on July 14 to raise money for the restoration of their building, which is said to date back to the 1930s.

Hosted by the members of Butler Lodge No. 42 and Rose of Sharon Chapter No. 51, the fundraiser is advertised as a "fun-filled day of food, music and face painting for the kids." Mason Secretary George Williams also said that the event will feature a pig roast.

Those interested are requested to make a minimum 12 dollar donation to participate. The fundraiser will take place at the lodge from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.

According to Williams, the Masonic Lodge building located at 191 County Road is over 70 years old (the oldest occupied building in Cliffwood) and is in need of restoration.

The lodge itself is also known as the Butler Lodge Holding Co., due to the building's history as a manufacturing mill.
