Last Chance: Apply for Affordable Housing Units in Aberdeen

Applications must be submitted to the township by May 31

May 31 is the last day to submit applications for four of the eight affordable housing units currently available in Aberdeen Township. Applications must be submitted to the Township of Aberdeen, Attn: Maxine Rescorl, MHL.

No late applications will be accepted, said Rescorl, the municipal housing liaison for Aberdeen Township.

The eight units are part of The Villages at Aberdeen, a development that is currently being built by C&M Associates, explained Rescorl. Four of the units are expected to be ready for occupancy by July 1. The remaining four are expected to be finished by the end of the year.

The area was zoned for inclusionary housing when C&M applied to develop the land in 2010 to help the township meet COAH regulations, Rescorl said. A total of 115 units will be built there.

Don't worry, more units will be available when the construction is complete. There will also be units available in a second development on County Road, which is still in the very early stages of construction.
