iPlay America Ditches Admission Fee

The indoor amusement park added a variety of affordable options for customers based on their families needs.

After listening to customers wants and concerns, iPlay America, the indoor amusement park in Freehold, decided to get rid of the admission fee and add variety of ways to pay and play.

“We listened to our many customers during the first six months of our opening,” said Gary Foley, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of iPlay America.  "People want to have the ease of entering the park to explore which rides and attractions are best suited for their family, offer more value for their dollar and make it more affordable to return frequently.”

The park will offer two unlimited ride packages as well as individual pricing for rides, attractions and amusements based on credits. Credits purchased will not expire and can be saved for future visits.

The new unlimited ride bands ae good from 3 p.m. to closing every day. For $17.95, you can purchase the iRide Package which includes the Jump Around, Happy Swing, Dizzy Dragon, Just iKidz, 4D Motion Theater, Skyscraper, Kite Flyer and Spin Zone. For $24.95, the iRide Plus Package includes Dizzy Dragon, 4D Motion Theater, Skyscraper, iPA Speedway (single), Spin Zone and Cosmic Battle Laser Tag.

“Our new pricing, coupled with our location and quality of service, will make it a must-visit destination for all families," said Foley.

iPlay America is open year round and is featuring new extended summer hours that are Monday -Friday from 10 am - 11 pm, Saturday from 11am – 12 midnight and Sunday from 11 am - 9 pm.

I've seen places like this pop up over the years. They usually close soon after the novelty wears off. My bet is in 3 years it will close and become a medical office or go back to being an abandoned building.

From before it opened, I said it was (and is) way too expensive especially if you have more than 1 kid.

I wish the owner(s) the best of luck. Obviously, they have spent a ton of money to make this thing work. This summer is the make or break test. Will the kids show up or head to the shore. You can't make a living from the few rainy days we get each summer. It's a grand facility, but it has been expensive for struggling families in this economy. The banquet facilities are great, so going after business meetings, conventions and trade shows should be a goal. They also have a huge, but poorly designed "concert hall" with a separate box office. Concerts, plays, comedy club and dinner theatre seems like a great bet to succeed around here. The owners haven't worked that end yet, but I bet they do, very soon.

My wife & I wanted to go to a comedy club last weekend. Her friends like karaoke on weekend nights, Sometimes we want to see a play or go to a concert. All venues for those things, even small ones (excluding the little playhouse in the borough), are miles from this area. It would be nice if the concert hall could be used for things like that on a regular basis, even if just on Friday and Saturday nights.

I think Mr. LeVine makes great points...iPlay has many avenues in which to make their business a success. I don't believe they can succeed just advertising and working the indoor amusement park angle. I went there when it first opened just to get an idea of what it offered for kids and relatives of various ages. They were very rude, and made me feel "cheap" for not wanting to pay just to walk through. And, I've been told by a balloon vendor that they were not going to be allowed to deliver their order to a party unless they showed their insurance certificate. Even the owner said "I was just delivering balloons!"...I hope they continue to work on branching out and loosening their image, but it could be too little too late.

The Events Programming job at iPlay would be a dream job for me. I would love it. Living around here and knowing what we all want to see in our area, I know this place could be packed every night with different events. These folks have a terrific facility and are missing the boat by not tapping into the huge number of younger and older adults (incl. those from the senior communities) seeking greater LOCAL entertainment opportunities in an area devoid of larger venues. We're crying for more things to do locally. Who will step up and meet our needs? How about some concerts, theatre (inc. dinner theatre), comedy nights, wrestling events, Expos, etc? Heck, I think the concert area in that building could even host basketball events like the Harlem GlobeTrotters and maybe even a college game with Georgian Court College going co-ed in the fall. Freehold is becoming an artsy town, building on Bruce Springsteen's heritage and worldwide fame. iPlay is the perfect venue to bring more and better adult-oriented and more general family entertainment to the area. My wife and I would be there in the blink of an eye if they had performances similar to the Count Basie and State Theatre. I am only posting here, because I hope that their management has a Social Media "listening" campaign going on and that they are "hearing" ideas from area residents like us about WHAT WE WANT as opposed to WHAT iPLAY MANAGEMENT THINKS WE NEED. If they succeed, everyone around here wins!
