Howell Man Arrested For Allegedly Possessing, Attempting to Sell Heroin at Quik Check

Matawan Police say they arrested the Howell man with 23 bags of heroin on his person.

Four people were arrested at the Quick Chek on Main Street in Matawan on Sept. 13 after officers observed the group engaging in suspicious activity in a parked car, according to Lt. Ben Smith.

When Ptl. Chris Stark approached the group, it became apparent that they were conducting a drug deal, Smith explained.

One of the men in the car, identified as Andrew Cabarello, 23, of Howell, was found to have 23 individually packaged bags of heroin in his jeans.

Caballero was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park.

Bail was set at $30,000. Caballero was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.

The three other individuals were charged with loitering to commit a controlled dangerous substance crime.

Ptl. Chris Stark, Ptl. Eric Budelman, Sgt. Jeremiah Hourihan and Lt. Jason Gallo responded to the scene.

Moms & dads of our community,
Understand that the street costs of pills (Oxi & others) are getting so high that kids are turning back to the old scourges of the past... namely Heroine. Keep an eye on your kids. They're not your friends/pals/buddies... they are your child and your responsibility.
Tough love is better than regrets. Just sayin'...

The police need to enforce the no-loitering policy. Groups of people hang out there all the time, just as they did at the 7-11 before it closed. They will hang out right by the no-loitering signs. I realize most of those hanging out there are illegal immigrants looking for work and not drug dealers, but allowing groups of people to hang out encourages illegal activity. This is why I stopped going to the 7-11, and why I no longer patronize this Quick Chek.
