Helicopter to Conduct Routine JCP&L Inspections in Aberdeen
The inspections are expected to begin Sept. 24.
Haverfield Company will conduct JCP&L's annual Supervisory Vegetation Management Aerial Patrol on or after Monday, Sept. 24 in Aberdeen Township.
These regularly scheduled inspections take place each year generally between April and September and cover all transmission facilities system-wide, according to a notice from JCP&L.
"Patrols consist of Transmission Forestry Supervision personnel that accompany the pilot in order to identify effectiveness of prior year's herbicide application and identification of any conditions warranting further inspection from the ground and/or corrective action," the web site states.
Haverfield Company will be conducting the inspections on all JCP&L Transmission Lines, beginning on or about Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 through Oct. 2, 2012, weather permitting.
The helicopter pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace. The helicopter will be flying at a speed of about 35 to 40 mph above or alongside the lines, and may circle around for a closer inspection, according to the notice.
The helicopter scheduled for these patrols is a black, Hughes MD500, with registration number N8688F.
