Emergency service professionals responded to a report of a drowning in Ideal Beach off of Port Monmouth Road on Thursday afternoon,  said Bob Pfleger, public information Officer Township of Middletown EMS Department.

The man was transported to Riverview Medical Center and CPR was performed on the way to the hospital, Pfleger said. The man’s condition was not immediately released.

The call to emergency medical services came at approximately 2 p.m., according to Pfleger.

The circumstances surrounding the incident and the identity of the man were not immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation.
