Police say he attempted to enter a home on Sweetbriar Street
A Cliffwood Beach man faces charges after he allegedly tried to break into a home on Sweetbriar Street on July 22.
Police say that Daquan Esdaile, 19, who also lives on Sweetbriar Street, attempted to enter the home but was not successful.
According to Chief of Police John Powers, when officers were investigating the attempted burglary they discovered a video camera that is part of a home video surveillance system worth $500 had been damaged. Further investigation, including reviewing footage from the surveillance system, led them to identify Esdaile as a suspect, Powers said.
When Esdaile was approached by police, he fled on foot through several backyards until he was located hiding in a shed, according to police.
Esdaile is charged with obstruction, criminal attempt to commit burglary, and criminal mischief.
He was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 with no 10% option.
