Civil War Era Memorial Day at Rose Hill Cemetery

The Matawan Historical Society sponsored a period reenactment on Sunday

 

Members of the NJ Civil War 150th Committee and the Matawan Historical Society presented presented a mid-19th Century tableau at Rose Hill Cemetery on Sunday morning.

Honoring the nation's fallen heros of the Civil War and beyond were reenactors Anthony Chadwick, Bob Chadwick, Jack DeMetro, Walt Hobson, Mylon Lorence, Bob Simonelli and Tim Korndoerfer, as Union riflemen. Union officers were portrayed by Ed Devlin, Bob Meyer and Tom Burke. President and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln were portrayed by Bob Costello and Cheryl Mustachio.

After the 12:30 pm ceremony, the entire group also marched in the annual Matawan Memorial Day Parade.
