Multiple Areas of Old Bridge Evacuated for Hurricane Sandy

A shelter has been set up at the Carl Sandburg Middle School.

 

Several areas of Old Bridge Township are under a mandatory evacuation order as Hurricane Sandy approaches.

The orders began for certain communities on Sunday with other areas being added Monday. Here is a list of areas under mandatory evacuation orders:

  • Pomona Boulevard and Raritan Boulevard in Cliffwood Beach
  • Bayside Avenue, Cliffwood Way, Rowan Way and Shoreline Road in Laurence Harbor
  • Appleby Street, First Street (both sides), Old Matawan Road (up to but not limited to Old Willis School Office Building), River Street, Madison (crossing Sunset), River Road, and Sunset Avenue in South Old Bridge.

An evacuation shelter has been set up at the Carl Sandburg Middle School as of 5 p.m. on Sunday, on Route 516. Residents are asked to bring personal belongings with them, including hygiene products.
