Aberdeen Waives Permit Fees for Sandy-Related Construction

Permit fees normally charged for projects will be waived, township council decides.

 

The Aberdeen Township Council voted to approve a resolution waiving permit fees for any construction projects made necessary by Sandy at their action meeting Tuesday night.

According to a letter the township received from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, municipalities are permitted to waive fees. If a municipality chooses to do so, then the state permit surchage fee is also waived.

The Council's next meeting is schedule for Dec. 4 and is open to the public.

This is great news! These fees are what give property owners/sells/buyers the biggest pause - how much must they spend to do simple work?

Please be careful as you hire contractors, however. IIf anybody offers work on your property, be sure to check with the state of NJ:

I wish you the very best in your recovery. I have relatives who had 9 feet of water in their homes, and the damage water can do is both beyond belief and expensive to deal with. My prayers are with you.
