Aberdeen Police Blotter: Shoplifting, Theft, and Fraudulent Charges

Aberdeen Township Police Blotter from March 29 through April 3.

The following is a list of police activity as reported by the from March 29 through April 3:

  • On March 29, Erik A. Williams, 20, Greenwood Avenue, was charged by detectives with four counts each of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and distribution of marijuana. See the full report here.
  • A 45-year-old Matawan man was arrested by Police Officer Jeffrey Griffith on March 30 for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court.
  • On April1, Melanie R. Olschewski, 28, and Janine S. Schantz, 53, both Monique Circle, Hazlet, were charged with shoplifting, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at the store. The complete report can be seen here.
  • On April 2 Sheila M. Ross, 31, Cross Road, Matawan, was arrested by Sgt. Henry Chevalier for two counts of shoplifting at the ,
  • Police Officer Craig Hausmann investigated a report of a missing person on South Atlantic Ave. on April 1.
  • On April 1 the owner of a business on County Rd. reported the theft of scrap metal valued at $400. Police Officer Jeffrey Griffith investigated.
  • On April 2 a resident of Peachtree Village, reported the theft of jewelry.  Police Officer Darryl Richardson investigated.
  • On April 2 a Beaver Place resident reported someone filed a fraudulent income tax return in his name. Police Officer Darryl Richardson investigated.
  • Police Officer Darryl Richardson responded to a report of illegal dumping on Cambridge Drive on April 2.
  • On April 3 a Wilson Ave. resident reported someone used his credit card to make a fraudulent purchase on the internet. Police Offcier Christopher DeSarno responded.

According to the Aberdeen Township Police Department’s press release, Officers responded to, or initiated, 249 calls for service between March 29 and April 3. The incidents included eight suspicious persons/vehicles; seven alarms; nine first aid calls; eight motor vehicle crashes; five thefts; three disorderly persons; five noise complaints; and 81 motor vehicle stops.  Officers issued 66 motor vehicle summonses.
