Aberdeen PD Investigating Attempted Robbery of Krauszer's

A male subject showed a knife to the store clerk Monday night, police say.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department is investigating the attempted robbery of Krauszer's on South Concourse in Cliffwood Beach on Monday evening. 

At about 8:07 p.m., a male subject entered Krauszer's, showed a knife to the store clerk and demanded money, according to Police Chief John Powers. 

The clerk then took a baseball bat and chased the man out of the store, Powers said. The man fled on foot in an unknown direction. He is described as a white male, approximately 5'9'' tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a horizontal line across the back, blue gloves, jeans and white sneakers, according to police.

The area was searched by township police officers with the assistance of a Monmouth County Sheriff's Office K-9 officer, Powers said. The man was not located. 

The investigating officers were P.O. Anthony Marone, Special Officer Michael Scarpa and Sgt. Hank Chevalier.
