Spend Time with the Zany, Lovable Sycamore Family in You Can’t Take It With You Presented by Spotlight Players of Matawan

Spotlight Players proudly presents the classic comedy “You Can't Take It With You!” Focused on the sparks that fly when the eccentric Sycamore family meets the traditional and repressed Kirby family, the play aims to prove that there's nothing more important than love, family and finding your own bit of happiness in this world. Enjoy an evening of heartfelt laughs and a few surprises as family patriarch Grandpa teaches Alice Sycamore, her fiance Tony Kirby, Jr. and the whole family the meaning of the old saying, “You Can’t Take It With You.”

Director Roman Sohor, of Old Bridge, is thrilled to bring this well-loved play to life with the help of a talented and dedicated cast and crew from all around Monmouth and Ocean counties. Sohor, who is also appearing onstage reprising a role he played in high school (boisterous Russian dance teacher Kolenkhov) believes that this classic script, written in 1936 and popular with audiences ever since, is “just as teeming with life and meaning today as it was when it originated. The themes of finding our place in this world, of young people becoming who they want to be and how our families shape our life, for better or worse, these are timeless.”

With a generous helping of quick wit, physical comedy and heartfelt emotion, “You Can’t Take It With You” as presented by Spotlight Players is sure to be a memorable night out you won't want to miss.

Lauren Grillo of Brielle serves as assistant director, with Cliff Greene of Freehold and Lizz Naishtut of Matawan co-producing.
