Those traveling south for Fourth of July may not be able to celebrate to the fullest, as severe power outages swept through Atlantic, Cumberland and Salem counties over the weekend.
As of Sunday evening more than 100,000 customers remained without power after a severe storm hit the region on Saturday, and a state of emergency was declared in Atlantic County.
Atlantic City Electric, the company providing power to the bulk of those affected, has announced that power is not expected to be fully restored until Friday, although many should have power back by the fourth. The company also announced that crews from New York and northern New Jersey have been brought in for assistance.
