Place Your Bets on a Great Night Out with Spotlight Players’ production of Guys & Dolls

Roll the dice, rock the boat, and take a gamble because this August, Spotlight Players of Matawan proudly presents the classic musical Guys & Dolls. Filled with a colorful cast of characters including the smooth gambler Sky Masterson, proper Mission Doll Sarah Brown, lovable hoodlum Nathan Detroit and his long suffering fianceé Miss Adelaide, Guys & Dolls is a light-hearted and lively jaunt through the streets of old time New York. Join the full cast of gamblers, dancers, and mission goers as they sing and dance their way through beloved songs such as Guys and Dolls, Luck Be a Lady, Sit Down Your Rocking the Boat and more!

“The journey of bringing this production to the stage has been fantastic,” says director Eva Ryan, of Matawan. “Our incredible cast has pushed themselves to the limit to create and inhabit this world, and we can’t wait to share the fun with an audience.” When Ryan and her longtime producer Cassie Leonard of Hazlet were looking to present a musical together after years of straight plays, they were thrilled to work on such a classic and beloved comedy. “We couldn’t have done this without the talent and dedication of our amazing production team as well!”

With a varied cast ranging in age from 14 to over 40, including both Spotlight first timers and long-standing veterans, Guys & Dolls is an example of the kind of collaborative and welcoming environment that Spotlight Players strives to achieve with each production.

The talented and dedicated production team also includes Chelsea Leonard of Hazlet as Assistant Director, Justin Ryan of Keyport as Musical Director, Cathryn Hardy of Old Bridge and Kate Matseur of Highland Park as Choreographers, and Jackie Higgins and Eileen Gorczynski of Matawan as Stage Managers.

Perfect for the whole family, and fans of musical theater and comedy of all ages, Guys & Dolls promises to be a sure-fire bet for a fun night out this summer. Come rock the boat with us!
